At Reachout School of Ministry, we believe that everyone deserves access to God’s Word in a language they understand best—the language of their heart. In partnership with Wycliffe Associates and local churches, we are actively engaged in Oral Bible Translation (OBT) projects across Kenya, bringing Scripture to communities in their native tongues through storytelling, recitation, and audio formats.
Currently, we are working in ten local languages across the counties of Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, and Baringo. Many of these communities have limited or no access to written Bibles, and literacy levels can be low. OBT provides a way for them to hear and understand the Bible clearly and accurately, often for the first time.
Our trained local translators work in teams, faithfully translating and orally recording portions of Scripture that are then tested, revised, and shared within their communities. This method not only preserves the biblical message but also strengthens oral learning traditions and accelerates discipleship and evangelism.
Through OBT, we are witnessing lives transformed as people hear God's Word in the language they speak every day.
In 2023, the Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries (ASCM) and the Wycliffe Associates (WA) entered into a partnership to launch a Certificate in Bible Translation program—to advance Church-Owned Bible Translation (COBT) across the nations.
The first cohort was composed of Bible translators from Kenya, representing ten Bibleless language communities: Sabaot, Masaba, Sebei, Khayo, Wanga, Kabras, Pokot, Teso, Tachoni, and Bukusu.
Fast forward to August 2025—they have completed the New Testament in these ten languages and 33 of them have also finished their academic training through the certificate program. PTL!
On August 22, we will celebrate their graduation and the dedication of the New Testaments they’ve labored to translate. ASCM President Dr. Andrew Han will be delivering the keynote address for this historic occasion.
Please pray for the upcoming celebration. Also pray that God, who has brought us this far, will graciously provide for every remaining need, as this is also a time when practical needs must be addressed and outstanding obligations settled before graduation can proceed
